The diaspora teams this May 2026 were in three continents to empower investors to invest back in Kenya. The teams were in Africa, Australia and the United States of America to also avail updated information on the projects that various investors had bought under the Optiven portfolio. Optiven’s #TeamAfrica led the diaspora outflow in May with the teams travelling to Ghana and Uganda between 20th May 2026 and 29th May 2026. Optiven in Uganda

Team Uganda were in the capital city Kampala to empower investors attending the 10th Edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo POATE. The event is Uganda’s flagship annual travel and tourism trade show organized by the Uganda Tourism Board. It brought together international buyers, tour operators, and media to explore East African tourism and form business partnerships.The recent edition took place at the Speke Resort Convention Centre, Munyonyo.

Optiven in USA

Optiven’s Team USA departed Kenya on 27th May 2026 to the USA to impart investors in different cities. The May 2026 trip came back to back with the return of another USA trip that ran from April 2026. Fidelis Kariuki, Diaspora Relations Manager for USA says the move is to ensure that as many states as possible are reached with investors receiving their title deeds during the current engagement.

Optiven in Australia

Team Australia begun their engagement of different cities on 28th May 2026 and are expected back in the Kenya in June. This becomes the first trip to Australia although a number of delegations have been to the country in the last 4 years. Optiven’s Diaspora teams in Oceania and Africa, this August 2025 were in Australia and Seychelles. The Oceania team was represented by Dennis Mwangi, Sales and Marketing Manager who was in the city of Melbourne from the 20th of August 2025. Mr. Mwangi has been activating the Australian market for years now and is making his third return to the market.

Kenya played the host role during the 5th Edition of the Diaspora Africa Conference this July 2025 under the theme, “BEYOND BORDERS : Uniting the Diaspora for Africa’s Investment” . The event held in the capital Nairobi saw delegates representing different African nations present alongside numerous global champions at the one of a kind conference.

Optiven’s Team USA kicked off it’s activities in North Carolina as early as 19th of March 2025 before moving to Dallas, Texas on the 26th of March 2025. Optiven’s Team Africa kicked off it’s 2025 diaspora engagement in the country of a thousand hills Rwanda. The team was led by the Optiven Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. George Wachiuri and was at hand to host Kenyans in the capital Kigali.

Kenyans in Rwanda have previously been empowered by Optiven and this time the team was in the land of a thousand hills from 22nd January 2025 to 28th January 2025. Apart from meeting up with Kenyans in Rwanda, the Optiven team was also at hand to participate in philanthropy by taking part in an Umuganda monthly cleanup at Lake Nyarutarama in Kigali on Saturday 25th of January 2025.

The team later hosted Kenyans to a title deed dinner at the Great Kiyovu Hotel in Rwanda, with the team hosted by Optiven Special Envoy, Engineer Wanderi.

#TeamAfrica also made inroads in Burundi this January with the team on ground from 26th January 2025 to 28th January 2025. The opportunity meant Kenyans and other nationalities were able to interact with the team in the capital Bujumbura. According to the Central Bank of Kenya, diaspora remittance surpassed the forecast, reaching approximately sh. 671 billion ($4.19 billion), marking a significant 18% growth from the previous year. This ranks Kenya as the third largest recipient in sub-Saharan Africa and fifth on the continent, indicating the substantial contribution from the diaspora community.

The report indicates more than half of these remittances are directed towards investments, particularly in real estate and mortgage payments, showcasing a shift towards productive uses of funds. Remittances have become Kenya’s largest source of foreign exchange over the past 9 years, playing a crucial role in stabilizing the economy.

This August it was all systems go as Optiven’s #TeamCanada arrived in Canada. The trip was to empower Kenyans living and working in different Canadian cities to invest back home as well as deliver the Optiven promise to investors who had completed their payments.

Jane Kiarie of Optiven Global represented the team by kicking off her tour in Toronto and later empowering the diaspora family in the cities of Vancouver and Montreal respectively. The tour was made possible via a partnership between Optiven, Daring Abroad and Jeremy Damaris events in the different cities.
