Organizations of the future are the ones that not only provide a transformative agenda for the publics they serve but also spread their wings to ensure more inclusivity for the job market through provision of employment opportunities year after year.

This is the situation at Optiven Limited as they welcomed a set of fifteen new staff today to join the marketing division.  Speaking ahead of the orientation process for the new team, Group Chief Executive Mr. George Wachiuri advised on the need to harness the opportunity and leave a lasting mark on the market.

Wachiuri further reiterated the need for the new staff to adapt to the culture of Optiven that sets it apart from the others in terms of service delivery, professionalism and innovation.  The team coming on board was selected in accordance to an open policy of recruitment that bases the candidates knowledge with the vision, values and expectations of Optiven Limited.

Wachiuri adds, ‘the new team is not here because of whom they know but because of their competence – key of which is having a winning attitude and being in tandem with our values including customer-centric, value-basis and target orientation.

For us, we are looking not just for employees, but these are the seeds of the company.   My challenge to the new comers, is for them to create more opportunities and grow the company so that more and more professionals can gain employment with the Optiven Family’.

The new team of fifteen were among over 8,000 applicants who applied for the positions as advertised at Optiven Limited in November 2019.  As part of the grander vision under the Optiven Group, the companies and subsidiaries that make up the strategic business units are geared towards infusing the Kenyan business space with 30,000 jobs by the year 2030.

According to Wachiuri, ‘our vision is on course and we are taking every opportunity to not only create opportunities for more Kenyans to get gainful employment but also to mentor the young people, who are demoralized owing to the growing unemployment rate through the Graduate Mentorship Program.

The Graduate Mentorship Programme which is now in its second year, has seen Optiven Group host two cohorts of students from various universities in the region to serve in different departments and the strategic business units within the group.

Among the university graduates that have benefited from the programme include those that have since graduated from universities such as Makerere University of Uganda, Laikipia University in Nakuru, Daystar University in Athi River and the University of Nairobi, main campus among others.

Of the cohorts that have participated in the programme, at least 85% of them have been absorbed into gainful employment including with companies such as Ernst and Young, the United Nations, among others.

The arrival of the new fifteen staff members this January adds to the already existing workforce of over 300 staff as well as 200 others serving in casual capacities.  Against the backdrop of boosting the workforce, it is expected that the new development will spur Optiven Limited to the next level and improve momentum towards growth in the real estate sector.

Optiven Limited has in the last two years been singled out for its role in the employment of qualified personnel, a key proponent that has placed it on a path towards becoming an award winning company.  Among the awards the company holds include various in Customer Service, Philanthropy, Financial Inclusivity, and a myriad for exploits gained in real estate excellence.
