The beginning of June marked a remarkable opportunity for students from various backgrounds to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic real estate environment. The 3-month program that is annually and runs to September 2024 aims to equip the students with relevant experience and skills needed in the job market.

This includes working closely with experienced professionals in the chosen fields and participating in projects that enhance their practical knowledge and problem-solving skills. This year we had interns for various departments including an international student joining either the sales, procurement, IT, public relations giving their unique viewpoints and innovative ideas to spark creativity and fresh perspectives.

The mentees expressed to make the absolute most of the internship by being a supportive team player, maintaining a hungry mindset, and striving to consistently elevate Optiven’s reputation through their knowledge and skills.

Over the next several months, I look forward to immersing myself in Optiven’s public relations initiatives and use this platform to build strong relationships with my colleagues, learning from my supervisor, and contribute to our collective success, highlighted the public relation intern.

We recognize the opportunity to develop and refine various essential skills that are highly valued by employers allowing students to explore different career paths and gain exposure to various job functions. This firsthand experience can help interns determine their interests, strengths, and potential career fit before making long-term commitments. The program exposes the mentees to new challenges and responsibilities encouraging independence a better understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement.

Dr. George Wachiuri is an advocator for mentorship programs as he believes that true leaders inspire and develop others, helping them realize their full potential. He is currently mentoring the fifth cohort of the George Wachiuri School of Mentorship which is a comprehensive six-month program aimed at empowering entrepreneurs and startups. This is among the various mentorship initiatives we provide as we work towards social economic transformation.
