Optiven joined the world in marking World Environment Day under the 2025 global theme “Putting an end to plastic pollution.” With environmental degradation posing a significant threat to ecosystems and human health, Optiven commits to sustainable practices and calls upon individuals and organisations to take the necessary measures against plastic waste.
In Kenya, we generate millions of tons of plastic waste annually recycling only a fraction of this. This poses a significant threat to our ecosystems, wildlife and ultimately our own health and well being. As a real estate developer we have a significant role to play and an opportunity to lead by example by implementing sustainable practices.
George Wachiuri, CEO of Optiven Limited, emphasizes, “Environmental sustainability a responsibility and as we observe this year’s International Day for the Environment, let us all commit to safeguarding our planet.”
Environmental protection is not just a core pillar of the Optiven Foundation but also a collective responsibility. To this end we have integrated conservation in our projects through the green spaces, solar lighting, waste recycling systems and planned sustainable building policy to minimize environmental impact.
Through The Optiven Foundation, we have initiated tree planting initiatives through the Go Green na Optiven contributing to Kenya’s 30% forest cover by 2032. We remain dedicated to creating a cleaner, greener Kenya and invite partners, clients, and the public to join in this vital mission. Together, we can #BeatPlasticPollution and create a sustainable future.
