Where Africa is concerned, Optiven Group has been feted as the Best Employer Brand Africa for the year 2019 at an award ceremony held in Mauritius.  The award comes shortly after Optiven Group was feted as the Best Employer Brand in East Africa at an award ceremony held in Daresalam Tanzania in June this year

The award issued by the World HRD Congress has been in the process of reviewing Human Resource practices across the globe and singling out key companies that have footprints in their operations of how they employ, the status of work and other parameters.

Speaking shortly after the award was issued, Mr. George Wachiuri, the Group Chief Executive at Optiven said, ‘the award bestowed to Optiven Group for the Best Employer Brand Africa, is a humbling experience for us considering that we have been true to our call to transform the society – beginning with our staff and stakeholders, for a period of 20 years as at 2018.

The Best Employer Brand Awards held their 14th edition of the awards in the island nation of Mauritius on 4th December 2019 to award different corporates from across the African continent.  Optiven Group was represented at the event held in the Balaclava area, and was attended by top companies from across the African continent to celebrate different milestones achieved by the corporates.

Organized by the Employer Branding Institute which organizes the awards seeks to connect senior leaders in Human Resource to enable them share best practices in the profession in line with talent management, development, and innovation.  The award given to Optiven Group was in recognition of five key areas which are:-

  1. Production of leaders from among it’s workforce
  2. Capacity for managers to create or implement change
  3. Enabling staff to be iconic
  4. Encompassing talent management and retainance
  5. Aligning operations to the corporate mission and vision

According to Mr. Wachiuri, the company has managed to settle in its staff whom are referred to as associates through provision of various incentives key of which is providing them with a transparent platform to make key decisions that are of benefit to the organization as a whole.

He says, ‘at Optiven Group we nurture free thinkers and enable them to not only provide solutions to the problems that emerge, but anticipate the challenges and take the initiative to solve them at all levels.  As the Team , I do not necessarily have to be right if a member of the team has a better idea, I also support it and contribute towards making it a success’.
