Peace is at the heart of any thriving community and is key in transforming lives. This is the opening statement of the Optiven Group CEO Dr. George Wachiuri who notes that Rwanda has many lessons for not just Africa but the world to learn in matters of peace, reconciliation and unity. His sentiments coincide with the United Nations and the Rwanda High Commission in Kenya, as they joined the rest of the world in commemorating the events that led to genocide in Rwanda 32 years ago.

Coming on the back of a return trip from Rwanda in March 2026, Dr. Wachiuri who was part of the Optiven delegation to various cities in Rwanda added that the genocide is a wakeup call for humanity to remember that everyone is important and is key in taking the community together. Wachiuri says, “this year’s global theme, “Remember, Unite, Renew,” underscores the importance of remembrance, unity, and a renewed commitment to preventing genocide and promoting reconciliation.”

Without willful engagement, all humanity suffers and economies fall. ” Dr. George Wachiuri, CEO, Optiven Limited.
