Job Purpose Statement

  • The job holder is responsible for managing and maintaining Optiven’s IT computer systems and networks, including:
  • Providing technical assistance and solutions to end-users.
  • Ensuring system reliability and uptime by managing and maintaining technological infrastructure.
  • Conducting user training to promote best practices in technology usage and security.

Key Responsibilities

User Assistance

  • Simplify technical concepts and translate them into user-friendly language.
  • Guide users through setting up and troubleshooting audio/visual equipment for meetings and events.
  • Provide hands-on assistance in resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Document user inquiries, issues, and resolutions for future reference.
  • Offer proactive guidance on best practices for technology use.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical challenges and ensuring smooth user experiences.

Hardware & Software Support

  • Assist with setting up and configuring computers, operating systems, applications, and peripherals.
  • Conduct regular system and network maintenance checks.
  • Support users in resolving hardware failures, software glitches, and connectivity issues.
  • Monitor system performance and identify potential concerns before they escalate.
  • Assist in the installation and operation of audio/visual equipment.
  • Apply necessary software updates, security patches, and fixes.
  • Diagnose and resolve system errors, reinstall software, and replace faulty components.

Network Support

  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving network-related issues.
  • Support network maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Ensure network infrastructure and hardware are organized and installed correctly.
  • Help with basic network configurations and troubleshooting.

System Maintenance

  • Monitor system performance metrics and flag potential issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as updates, system checks, and performance tuning.
  • Assist with implementing security patches and updates to maintain system integrity.

Backup and Recovery Support

  • Assist in managing backup procedures to protect critical data.
  • Ensure backups are securely stored and accessible when needed.
  • Support data recovery efforts in case of loss or system failure.
  • Conduct routine tests to confirm the reliability of backup systems.
    Other duties assigned from time to time.

Qualification and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or any related field.
  • Training in JavaScript, Node.js, React, and related languages and database management.
  • Diploma in a Program Development is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in software development or related field.

Competency Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field.
  • Diploma in Information Technology.
  • Certifications in IT (e.g., CompTIA N+ & A+ certification; CCNA Cisco certification; CompTIA Server+ certification; Google IT support certification) are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s work experience in computer networks, systems and equipment support.
